The rules
How to play
1
One player is the captain and calls orders: 'Port!' (run left), 'Starboard!' (run right), 'Scrub the deck!' (mime scrubbing), 'Climb the rigging!' (mime climbing), and the trap, 'Captain's coming!' means freeze and salute until 'At ease!' Anyone who moves while saluting, or is last to obey an order, is out.
2
The final sailor becomes captain.
Keep it fair
Teach the orders with a practice round and add new ones one at a time, six new commands at once is how the youngest players end up lost and grumpy.
