The rules

How to play

1

Draw a large square divided into five smaller squares (one in each corner and one in the centre) on the ground.

2

Stack five flat stones in the centre square.

3

Teams take turns: the attacking team nominates one player to knock the stack over by kicking or pushing the centre stone, then all attackers race to place one stone into each of the four corner squares before defenders tag them.

4

Defenders may not touch the centre square but can tag attackers anywhere else on the field.

5

A tagged attacker is out for that round.

6

Attackers win if they place a stone in all four corners before being eliminated.

7

Defenders win if they tag out all five attackers.

8

Teams swap roles each round.

Keep it fair

A stone only counts as placed if it is fully inside the corner square, partially on the line does not count, so draw the squares clearly before starting.
