Drop the Cap
Also known as Taq Taq Taqiyah, Taq Taqiyah, Ran Ran ya Jaras
A running circle game where one child circles outside chanting and secretly drops a cap behind a seated player who must give chase.
How to play
Seven to ten children sit in a tight circle.
One child runs around the outside chanting 'Taq taq taqiyah…' while the circle responds in rhyme.
The runner secretly drops a small cap or folded cloth behind one seated player.
When that player finds it, they pick it up and chase the runner around the circle.
The runner tries to reach the vacated spot before being struck with the cap.
Whoever fails to reach the gap becomes the next runner.
Keep it fair
The seated children keep both hands behind them, palms flat on the ground, then the moment the object is found is unambiguous and there is no argument about who had it.
