Drop the Handkerchief
Also known as 丢手绢 (Diū Shǒu Juàn), Throw the Handkerchief
A singing circle game where a runner secretly drops a cloth behind a seated player who must jump up and give chase.
How to play
All players except one sit in a circle facing inward.
The standing player (It) walks around the outside of the circle while everyone sings 'Throw, throw, throw the handkerchief, gently place it behind a friend, don't let them know.'
It secretly drops a cloth or folded jacket behind one seated player, then runs around the circle.
The seated player must notice, grab the cloth, and chase It.
If It returns to the empty spot before being tagged, the chaser becomes the new It.
If tagged, It goes again.
Keep it fair
Before the game starts, agree on what counts as the finish line for It to reach. This stops arguments about whether they made it back in time.
