The rules

How to play

1

Find a long stick (~2 ft danda) and a shorter stick with pointed ends (~6 inches gilli).

2

Dig a small hole and rest the gilli over it so one end sticks up.

3

The batter uses the danda to flick the raised end, sending the gilli airborne, then hits it hard to send it as far as possible.

4

If a fielder catches the gilli before it lands, the batter is out.

5

Otherwise, the fielder throws the gilli trying to hit the danda (placed across the hole).

6

If they hit it, the batter is out.

7

If they miss, the batter scores points measured by how many danda-lengths the gilli traveled.

8

Batter gets three chances to hit before rotating.

Keep it fair

Agree before starting how distance is measured (danda-lengths) and who calls catches, the fielder must catch cleanly with both hands and shout 'out' clearly.
