How to play

1

One player is the 'grandmother' (achchi) who sits on the ground near a small mound of dirt or sand pretending to dig with a stick.

2

The other players stand around her at a safe distance and call out a traditional set of questions in a teasing chant.

3

After the final exchange, the grandmother suddenly leaps up and chases the other players.

4

The first player she catches becomes the next grandmother.

5

The game continues with the new grandmother resuming the digging pose.

Keep it fair

The grandmother must finish the full question-and-answer exchange before chasing, no early jumps. If they chase before the last line, the round does not count.
