How to play

1

One player (the Oni) sits in the center with eyes closed or covered.

2

All other players join hands and walk slowly in a circle around the Oni while chanting the song: 'Kagome kagome, the bird in the cage, when will you come out? In the dawn of the crane and turtle, who is standing behind you now?' When the chant ends, the circle stops and the Oni tries to name the person standing directly behind them.

3

If correct, that person becomes the next Oni.

4

If wrong, the Oni tries again.

Keep it fair

The Oni gets one guess per round. No whispering hints from the circle. If there's argument about whether the Oni peeked, have a circle member stand directly behind to confirm.
