Kijembe
A rhythmic hand-clapping partner game with a narrative song that speeds up to trip players.
How to play
Two players face each other and clap hands together in a synchronized pattern, clapping own hands, then slapping partner's palms, in a repeating rhythm, while singing the Kijembe song (a story about a sharp hoe that injures a teacher, with consequences rippling through the family chain).
The sequence is performed at a slow tempo first, then immediately repeated at higher speed.
When the song reaches a countdown from nine to one, both players point at each other and freeze.
If a player breaks the pattern, claps out of time, or laughs before the freeze, both restart from the beginning.
There is no winner, the game ends when both complete the full fast sequence cleanly.
Keep it fair
Since there is no winner, there is nothing to fight about, if one player makes an error, just smile and restart together.
