How to play

1

Players stand in a line or loose circle.

2

The leader shouts 'Nyama! Nyama! Nyama!' (Meat! Meat! Meat!) and all players jump and echo it.

3

The leader then calls out the name of an animal.

4

If it is an animal people eat (cow, goat, fish, chicken), all players must jump and shout 'Nyama!'.

5

If it is an animal not eaten (lion, snake, monkey), players must stay completely still and silent.

6

Anyone who jumps for an inedible animal, or who fails to jump for an edible one, is eliminated.

7

The last player standing wins and becomes the new leader.

Keep it fair

Before starting, the group quickly agrees on a short list of borderline animals (e.g. crocodile, rabbit), this removes all disputes mid-game.
