Six Pillars Swing Song
Also known as Altybakan
Pairs take turns on a communal rope swing singing call-and-response songs, boys and girls together.
How to play
Set up a rope swing using two strong ropes looped over a horizontal pole or tree branch (traditionally six poles).
A boy and girl sit or stand on the swing together.
As they sway, they begin a song; the watching circle must join in the response.
Any boy who cannot match the girl's song lines pays a small forfeit (a task, a dance, a rhyme).
Couples take turns, the next pair waits until the song ends.
The game is cooperative and musical, continuing as long as the group wishes.
Keep it fair
Agree on a song repertoire before play, anyone can call 'I don't know that song' to skip a song without penalty, so no child feels humiliated for not knowing the words.
