The rules

How to play

1

Two groups stand in rows holding hands.

2

Group One sings 'Oq terakmi, ko'k terak, who do you need from us?' Group Two sings back a name.

3

That named child walks, does not run, across and tries to enter the other team's chain by sliding between two players before their arms close.

4

If they slip in, the game resets.

5

If blocked, they join that group.

6

The singing negotiation, not the collision, is the heart of the game.

7

Suited for younger children and calmer play.

Keep it fair

Because this version involves walking, not charging, 'did they get through' is rarely disputed. If it is, the child gets a second attempt, the singing version rewards grace, not strength.
