How to play

1

Two players secretly choose to represent 'gold and silver' or 'iron and steel' and form an arch by joining raised hands.

2

All other players form a line and march under the arch while everyone sings 'London Bridge is falling down, falling down, falling down…'.

3

On the final word of the song ('my fair lady'), the arch drops to capture the player underneath.

4

That player whispers their choice (gold or iron) and stands behind the matching team-leader.

5

When everyone is sorted, both teams hold the waist of the player in front and have a tug-of-war.

Keep it fair

The arch must fall slowly and gently so no one is grabbed roughly. Walk through the catching technique before the game, arms should lower like a gate, not snap down.
