Players lie in pairs on the ground in a large open field; a lone mouse escapes the cat by lying down beside any pair, the displaced player becomes the new mouse.

The rules
How to play

Players pair up and lie side by side on the ground across the space.

One player is the Mouse and one is the Cat.

The Cat chases the Mouse; the Mouse can escape by lying down next to any existing pair, the player on the far side of that pair instantly becomes the new Mouse and must run before the Cat can tag them.

If the Cat tags the Mouse before they find a pair to lie next to, the Mouse becomes the Cat.
Keep it fair
The old third-person in a group must start running the moment the Mouse lies down, standing still and claiming 'I wasn't displaced' is not allowed.
