Finnish circle game like Duck Duck Goose with a race twist, the Tar Cook drops an object behind a player, who must race the cook back to their spot.
How to play
Players sit in a circle, each in their own 'nest' (spot on the ground).
One player is the Tar Cook (tervankeittäjä) and walks around the outside of the circle.
The cook drops a small object (a stone, twig, or shoe) behind one seated player without them noticing, seated players must resist looking behind them.
Once the seated player notices the object (by feel or sound), they leap up and race around the circle in the opposite direction from the cook, both trying to reach the empty nest first.
Whoever arrives last becomes the new cook.
Keep it fair
Seated players must keep both hands on their knees, no reaching back, so everyone agrees on a fair check of awareness.
